What is jailbreaking?

Jailbreaking is a term that refers to any method that allows you to install unauthorized, third-party software onto a device, and to access parts of the file structure that are not typically available to end users. Prior to jailbreaking, users are only able to run games and apps licensed officially. The primary objective of jailbreaking your device is to add a third-party loader or installer that lets you install games from sources other than the official ones.

Is jailbreaking illegal?

Jailbreaking is not illegal. You own the wii console so you can jump on it, paint it a different color or bury it if you wish. However, if you alter your wii console in such a way that it allows you to steal a service, content or use software without a license, this may fall into the realm of illegality. Furthermore, jailbreaking your device will void your warranty. Luckily, most jailbreak methods are 100% reversible so if you cause your device to malfunction, you can simply restore it to the factory settings.

Will jailbreaking allow me to download apps for free?

Jailbroken wiis are able to load third-party games that aren’t available in official stores. Some of these are free, while others are available for purchase. Jailbreaking your wii does not alter your access or privileges to the official games or alter the functionality of official games, it merely adds more choices.

Will I be found out if I jailbreak my wii?

Very unlikely unless you invite Satoru Iwata(CEO of Nintendo) over for a games night. Nintendo do not actively monitor millions of consoles sold, nor have they been known to punish anyone for jailbreaking their device. Note, that if you bring it in for technical support, the technician is likely to restore your device, thereby undoing your jailbroken status.

Why shouldn’t I jailbreak my wii?

Jailbreaking your wii may make it less stable, since you’ll be adding third-party software that hasn’t been approved and tested by Nintendo, however whenever Nintendo release an update, it effectively overrides any jailbreaking you’ve done.

How do I jailbreak my wii console?

There are numerous methods for jailbreaking your wii console, and it also depends on your firmware version. Free downloads exist over the internet sometimes with viruses, trojans and spyware and most probably outdated. Because of the outdated nature of free downloads, most actually downgrade your console.

You first have to soft mod your console, to do so I recommend you download Wii Unlocker Ultra or BreWii both compatible with all wii versions, then follow the easy-to-follows steps that will unlock any console. The download contains everything you need to softmod your console easily, including videos, instructions and bonuses. I did it in less than 10 minutes, I have friends that have done it in less time it really is that easy and it’s done for you. You will need a SD card to upload the softmod software onto, then insert it into you console and follow the on-screen steps to unlock wii.

Can I jailbreak for free?

Yes free downloads exist to jailbreak, though not from this site as there is no comeback or technical support and some contain viruses. If you decide to do download a free version please run a virus scan before you do anything with it. In my experience the only free cheese is in the mouse trap.

How to Reset Wii to Factory Defaults

To reset your Wii to the Factory settings, go to the Wii System Settings. Wii Options->Wii Settings->proceed to the Wii System Settings 3 screen. This screen has 4 options: Language, Country, Wii System Update and Format Wii System Memory. Select Format Wii System Memory to restore and reset your console. Please note that this will undo any wii jailbreak you may have done and will shut down after the restore, on restarting the console, it will be back to the original settings.
